The benefits of keeping preparedness supplies in your trunk

I drive an older model Camaro as my daily driver, and I have very limited trunk space, so what I keep with me for a day to day basis in the car has to be vital. Having a bag similar to a BOB (Bug Out Bag) in your car is a very wise idea. Most preppers call this a "Get Home Bag". The items kept in such a bag and your trunk will vary depending on your location and how far you typically travel from your home. I have to drive nearly an hour away from my home almost every day, so I keep a rather well stocked GHB and trunk.

Some good items to have in your GHB and trunk:

  • Extra Shoes (good hiking shoes are preferred)
  • Extra Socks
  • Extra Change of Clothes (Earthy colors)
  • Snack Bars
  • MRE's
  • Jumper Cables
  • Tool Kit
  • Flashlight
  • Jacket
  • Poncho
  • Emergency Money (for a tow, cab ride, etc)
  • Bottled Water
  • Gorilla Tape
  • Heavy Gauge Rope
  • Cigarette Lighter Outlet-Powered Air Compressor
  • Tire Plugging Kit
  • Knife/Multi-tool
  • Cell Phone Charger
  • BIC Lighter x2
  • 550 Paracord
  • Road Flares
  • Gas Can
  • Gloves
  • Binoculars
  • SAS Survival Guide
  • Emergency Contact List (if your phone dies, it would be nice to have all your important phone numbers written down)
  • Compass
  • Local Maps
  • First Aid Kit
  • Large Trash Bags (they can make a good poncho for your passengers)
  • Self-Defense Item
  • 5-Hour Energy (for me, these are a MUST. If you get sleepy while driving they are a lifesaver.)
  • Shemagh
  • Head-Light (trying to change a tire on the side of the road and hold a flashlight at the same time is quite a task)
  • Mylar Emergency Blanket
  • Phone Book
  • White Rag (to mark your vehicle as broken down)
As I said before, some of this depending on your area you may not need, or you may need other items. This is just to give you a good starting point. You never know what may happen day to day, so do yourself a favor and be prepared for anything!

Welcome to my Blog!

Hello Fellow Preppers!

I created this blog to help out other fellow preppers that might just be getting into prepping, or perhaps you've been prepping for years, but its all about sharing knowledge and helping your fellow man for the hard times to come. Soon I am going to be adding Equipment Lists, How-to Guides, Links to good prepping sites and references, books, How to make your own Bug-Out-Bag, Food Storage, etc. I hope this can help those looking for information as I have in the past years! If we are to get through this, we cannot do it alone!
